L4D: Witch and Huntress First Meeting

*Whack! Rattle, rattle... Bam! Thud!*

"Gaaah! Stupid freakin hunk a' junk! OPEN already, dammit!!!"

The odd Witch with aqua-colored claws, Krys, continues to yell at the vending machine she dragged into a back alley, kicking and punching at the hapless machine. From the sounds of it, she's seriously ticked, and has lost her patience with the food receptacle.

"Come on, WOOORK!"

The silver-haired Infected girl's little rant gets more and more violent and includes more curse words, also raising in volume. She's making a lot of noise, but doesn't really seem to care at the moment...

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"

The Witch jolts in surprise and quickly backs away, keeping her eyes trained on the voice's owner with a wary gaze. The newcomer's voice has a strong tint of annoyance in it, but a tinge of curiosity, too.

'...Gross...'

It's a female Hunter, crouched on top of the vending machine. Her clothes are filthy, stained with a fresh spatter of blood from a recent kill. The Witch backs away a bit, giving the blood on the Huntress' face a disgusted look.

"Trying to raid a vending machine," Krys says matter-of-factly, adjusting the strap of her messenger bag on her shoulder.

"What, this thing?" The Huntress asks questioningly.

"Why would you raid this thing when there's food all around?"

Krys just gives her another disgusted look.

"I don't eat people. I eat food. *deadpan* Now will you please wipe your face? You have blood all over your mouth. It's disgusting," she replies.

The Huntress looks at her blankly.

"Why would I do that? I was saving it for later, but if you insist..."

She wipes the blood off on the sleeve of her hoodie, then jumps down and gets extremely close to Krys, investigating/sniffing her.

"You're not like the other ones, you know," she says, backing up a little to get out of the short Witch's personal space.

"And you seem different, too... So, what do you call yourself?"

Krys relaxes a bit, having tensed up the moment the female Hunter got close.

"I had a different name when I was human, but I go by "Krys" now. Anyway, you seem different, too. You're the first Infected other than myself I've encountered who can actually form a proper sentence."

She turns back towards the vending machine, idly pushing random buttons with one aqua-clawed hand.

"I introduced myself, so now it's your turn," she mumbles a bit awkwardly.

"Well, Krys, my name is Michelle. Decided I still liked the old ring of my former name, so I kept it. And the reason for that is I didn't know if I'd find another person like me out here. Though here you are... Oh, and I didn't get Infected like normal. I kinda..."

She pauses as she hesitates to say what happened and twiddles her fingers together, fidgeting uncomfortably.

Krys blinks.

'You don't have to be mean about my name, y'know... What's wrong with it? I like it, and it's much less boring than my old name anyhow.'

The sane Witch keeps her thoughts to herself, pulling a hardcover book out of her messenger bag. She grips it tightly, its claw-scarred front cover turned so that the Huntress, Michelle, can see it.

"I don't know about you, but I wasn't Infected all that normally, either," she replies.

Michelle looks towards Krys.

"I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable... If you think that I don't like your name or something, I didn't mean to make it sound like that, either. I can tell because of your shifting... That book... it's a coping thing, isn't it? If it's okay to ask, that is," she says as she smiles widely, curious about the book and wondering how Krys will answer.

Krys looks down with a soft sigh.

"As for coping... Yes and no. I was Infected by a Witch, in the library near my school... She chased me, and I thought I lost her at the bottom of the stairs, but then she was suddenly THERE, and attacked me... Dunno how, but I managed to get up to the second floor. I heard a loud crash a second later. When I woke up after passing out, the staircase was a wreck and the Witch was gone. As for HOW she Infected me..."

The aqua-clawed Witch holds her book against her abdomen with one hand, claw marks facing toward Michelle, and pulls her shirt up with the other, just enough to reveal the other half of the claw mark, a scar slashed across her ribcage, right under her small, still-very-much-covered breasts. From the way she pulled her shirt up, it's obvious that she's quite conservative when it comes to showing skin, refusing to uncover anything above the stomach and torso.

Michelle stares at the completed scar, then looks away.

"That must've hurt... that burning feeling, right? Same here... But, as I said... it was... different," she mumbles.

"I kinda... drank my soda and was Infected," she says as she puts her arm up to scratch her head in embarrassment.

"Turns out a Witch came and... sorta drank out of it... Kinda silly, huh?"

Krys sweat drops.

"You got Infected by a Witch, too? I didn't know that even SPIT could Infect people... That's... kinda gross. And yeah, it hurt. The wound being so close to my heart is probably what saved me, though. Made it spread faster," she says, trailing off.

Michelle steps back a little in disbelief.

"It spread faster?! Well, at least you were unconcious as it happened... I was slowly losing my sanity through the whole ordeal. And, I'm sure it's by saliva, too. There was this dead Boomer who had bite marks all over his head... Well, before I started taking chunks out of his head," she replies, also trailing off.

"So, you still trying to get that thing to work?" She aks, pointing to the idly humming machine.

Krys shakes her head in answer to Michelle's comment about being unconscious.

"I was conscious for the worst of the pain, believe me... I was still me when I woke up, though. I also feel no need whatsoever to eat people. Figures... Even in the midst of a Zombie Apocalypse, I'm still a complete weirdo."

She kicks the vending machine in an annoyed fashion.

"Stupid thing! WORK, dammit!"

Michelle steps foward again.

"Sorry to hear that. So you did go through it, too. I thought I was normal, until I noiced I'd slipped into my hoodie. I tried to get it off, but I just couldn't get around to doing it. I wish I could've had more friends... Maybe... And that they remembered, too... But, I didn't have more friends... not one... Kudos for you, though. I don't know how I could get past a corpse without cannibalizing it."

She looks down at the ground.

""Even in the midst of a Zombie Apocalypse,I'm still a complete weirdo...," huh? I like the sound of that," she says as she watches Krys kick the machine.

"...Here, move a sec," she says as she crouches low to the ground.

Krys sweat drops.

"Definitely a Hunter... ^.^;"

She tenses, realizing what Michelle's planning.

"...Wait, are you gonna...?"

Krys' eyes widen and she also crouches, jumping onto a nearby fire escape to get out of the way. The weird Witch has a freakin' cat's reflexes...

Michelle pounces, easily breaking through the plexi-glass front pane of the vending machine, and gets back to her feet.

"GEEZ! That was different from any Witch! I like you," she says as a cute smile crosses her face.

"So, you still eat this stuff? It's got something to do with sugar, right?" She asks as she she gets down on all fours and starts to scratch her head with her foot.

Krys rubs the back of her head with one hand, careful not to scratch herself with her long, sharp nails.

"Heheh, it's like I'm a cat and you're a dog... ^.^; "

She jumps down from the fire escape, landing on the heels of her hands and balls of her feet, again moving just like a cat would, then answers Michelle's question.

"Well, it's about sugar sometimes, but these aren't snacks or candy, they're instant Ramen. I love that stuff, salty as it is. It's a good thing I'm not human anymore or all that sodium would've given me a heart attack by now."

"RAMEN?!" Michelle exclaims, sitting up completely.

"Geez, that's different from the other ones I've seen," she says as she sweat drops. Her stomach growls loudly and she places her hand over it.

"Mind sharing some of your stash, then?" She asks as she slowly gets to her feet.

Krys shrugs, nodding, as she goes over to the vending machine and carefully reaches through the broken plexiglass to get at the food inside.

"Sure, but it needs to be cooked first," the aqua-clawed Witch replies as she begins to stuff as many of the little styrofoam soup cups into her messenger bag as it can hold.

Michelle stares at them, then comes over to the machine.

"Would you like help carrying some of these?" She asks as she picks one up and eyes it closely. The Huntress turns to Krys again, still idly holding the ramen cup.

"Are you sure about them...?"

Krys continues packing her bag.

"Well, if you have something to carry them in, sure... And yes, they need to be cooked!"

Michelle nods and quickly starts stuffing them into the pockets of her hoodie.

"So, like... fire is what we need?"

Krys sighs, nodding.

"Technically, yeah. I've been staying inside a hospital. I have a microwave and stove there. I think another Special Infected lives there, too, probably on the second floor, but I cry to keep it away... I live on the third. We can go there."

Michelle finishes putting them into her pockets.

"Sweet... Another Infected, huh? Is it friendly, like you?" she asks, standing back up again.

"So... to the Hospital, then!" She exclaims, jumping up onto the fallen machine and pointing in a random direction.

"No, not a friend... Not an enemy, either. Just a complete unknown," Krys replies.

"I'd rather not risk an encounter if I can avoid it, though."

Krys puts the last soup cup into her bag and straightens up.

"That's the wrong way, you know," she calls over her shoulder, heading up the alleyway in the exact opposite direction from where Michelle is pointing.

Michelle turns back around towards Krys.

"So, unkown... and, errr... right, that way," she says as she sweat drops and jumps from window ledge to window ledge, following Krys closely.

The odd Witch laughs at this, shouldering her messenger bag and holding her book tight.

"Come on, follow me!"

'Guess I finally found a friend, huh...? That was... unexpected, to say the least. I mean... I was yelling at a VENDING MACHINE, for Pete's sake!'

Both girls continue on down the alleyway towards the street, seeming mutually happy about this unexpected first meeting...
